The phrase ‘Pedestrian Engineering’ initially sounds like the minimization of a field of study. In fact, pedestrians are far from banal but the most dynamic element of the urban environment. Designing for the pedestrian is not simply a matter of widening sidewalks or connecting dots with bridges or tunnels. Considering the future of New York (or any City), Pedestrian Engineering can result in a more fluid, safe and comprehensible environment.

Restrictions on pedi-cabs for NYC: With so many Manhattan trips under one mile, it seems that making pedi-cabs more prevalent and allowing them to compete economically with taxis is in our environmental and best interests.

Friday the 18th was Park(ing) Day. Over 50 parking spaces City wide and hundreds across the country were taken over for public space uses. Opposite the Lincoln Center Campus the visual arts, architecture and theater students of Fordham set up camp. Shakespeare in the Park(ing) Spot was designed built and performed on Columbus Avenue attracting a sizable crowd of people and members of the press including NY1 and WNYC radio.
